and/or shelf/slope processes; (Physical Oceanography) Ph.D. degree in physical oceanography or a closely related field; (Chemical Oceanography) Ph.D. degree in chemical oceanography, marine chemistry, marine geochemistry or a closely related field; (Geological Oceanography/Coastal Marine Geologist) Ph.D. degree in geological oceanography or in coastal, deltaic, marine or sedimentary geology, or a closely related field. Assistant Professor (Physical Oceanography) Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences
The Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences at Louisiana State University anticipates hiring one Assistant Professor (physical oceanographer). This position will be supported for nine months annually. We anticipate hiring at the Assistant Professor level although applicants at any level may apply. Required Qualifications: Ph.D. degree in physical oceanography or a closely related field; analytical, experimental, and/or modeling skills to investigate estuarine, coastal, and/or shelf/slope circulation processes. Additional Qualifications Desired: Demonstrated research interests in one or more of the following areas: circulation and transport processes, mixing processes, ocean/atmosphere interactions, gravity wave dynamics, and climate change. Responsibilities: develops a vigorous, externally-funded research program; mentor students; team teaches the physical oceanography component of the department’s graduate core course;
develops a second course in his/her area of specialization. The Department has strong physical, geological, biological, ecological, biogeochemical and fisheries programs focused on a range of processes and environments from coastal wetlands to the ocean.
