My main interest is in learning more about the behavior of North Atlantic hurricanes over various time scales. Particularly interesting is the possibility of climate driven changes in hurricane frequency in the Caribbean from the mid Holocene on, for which reason I am currently attempting to establish paleo-strike records for a number of sites in the western and southern Caribbean.
Since I take a sedimentary approach to paleotempestology, developing different proxy records and improving the ability to accurately identify the sedimentary signatures of storms is an important related concern, as is understanding the consequences of changes in sea level and geomorphology.
I am also interested in investigating the relationship between paleoenvironmental climatic conditions and long term hurricane strike frequency, as I view this as possibly useful tool in elucidating the interaction between hurricanes and climate.
